Manages vetting and clearance for all 3rd party vessels. Leads inspection of vessels and terminals. Assesses and determines suitability of vessels, vessel operating companies and terminals for the intended marine transaction and work scope. Provides marine risk assurance subject matter expertise to improve safety and reliability of marine operations.

Leads projects of medium scope and complexity. Work often impacts across work groups or at the BU level. Detailed knowledge of the work function and general knowledge of related work functions.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Pro-actively collect, evaluate and provide vessel, port and terminal information.
  • Work with internal customers to understand their business needs.
  • Recommend improvements to guidelines, requirements and procedures to enhance the clearance process.
  • Participate in industry work groups and develop and maintain industry relationships which facilitate Chevron business.
  • Ability to apply in-depth broad marine operational knowledge and skilled application of marine risk management principles including the identification of marine risks and safeguards preferred.
  • Uses risk management tools to manage Chevrons 3rd party marine risk through the vetting and clearance of 3rd party vessels, tugs and barges and associated terminals involved in the bulk transportation of crude oil, petroleum products and chemicals.
  • Manages Chevrons 3rd party marine risk by certifying vessels for suitability for specific loading and discharge operations such as CBM, SPM and STS operations.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and advice related to clearance activities and marine transportation / terminals to our key customers.
  • Able to act as marine SME to provide risk based solutions to our internal customers.
  • Provides input to Marine Assurance processes and procedures including vetting tools and data analytics to continuously improve MA processes and efficiencies.
  • Works closely with other SME's to ensure cross-regional alignment of processes and guidelines where applicable.
  • Maintains dialogue with industry counterparts including participation in industry work groups as directed.

Required qualifications:
  • Familiarity with industry organizations, practices, rules, and various regulatory conventions such as MARPOL, SOLAS etc. required.
  • Working knowledge of SIRE System preferred.
  • Utilizes and applies OE Processes to own work activities.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, peers and customers across disciplines and geographies.
  • Applies solid risk management judgement and skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments

  • The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $114.000 - $261.000 . The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
