Petroplan is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer on behalf of a Texas-based LNG company. This pivotal role oversees EPC contractor activities, ensuring the generation of comprehensive and safe process scopes, suitable design deliverables, and the execution of commissioning and startup plans in a secure and efficient manner.

Role Summary:

The Process Engineer ensures meticulous process design implementation across our clients projects, spanning engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.

Preferred Education:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a key member of the process engineering team, facilitating interface across all engineering disciplines to ensure adherence to process design intents and supporting utilities.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of EPC contractor calculations, providing necessary feedback and guidance.
  • Validate drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with Scope of Work and Basis of Design.
  • Develop new Owner process equipment and piping specifications as project demands.
  • Analyze process systems and devise strategies for de-bottlenecking.
  • Prepare documents (P&ID's, PFD's) for Hazard Analysis and lead HAZOPs and other formal safety reviews.
  • Develop control philosophies and sequence of operations for processes.
  • Review and assess Designer's quality on RFI responses and submittals.
  • Conduct studies and reports for process systems on projects.
  • Perform economic evaluations for processes and front-end loading of process systems.
  • Oversee process design and engineering of LNG liquefaction plants.
  • Coordinate process technology licensor activities.
  • Ensure timely review of Contractor process engineering deliverables including PFD, PID, HMB, Datasheets, etc.
  • Support risk management activities such as LOPA and HAZOP.
  • Provide assistance for operations readiness, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Resolve process engineering issues in collaboration with EPC contractor, consultants, operations, maintenance, and regulatory entities.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in similar positions on large capital development projects, either within EPC or client organizations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in LNG projects, including a minimum of 5 years in execution phase, from detailed design through to startup.
  • Profound understanding of APCI liquefaction process.
  • Familiarity with applicable process specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Experience with process simulation software such as HYSYS, Unisim, PRO II, ProMax, with demonstrated real-world model validation and application.
  • Knowledge of process deliverables and Battery Limit Lists.
  • Deep understanding of depressuring, relief valve sizing, flare system analysis, and process chemistry and engineering.
  • Broad-based knowledge and experience in chemical process and unit operations.
  • Understanding of chemical process control and safety system design, including Safety Case.
  • Strong IT, computational, and data analysis skills with rapid problem-solving abilities and multitasking capabilities.
