Contributes to the delivery of Engineering excellence through:
- Developing UK Discipline Strategy
- Driving technical assurance
- Supporting UK Head of Engineering, other Heads of Discipline and Engineering Managers
- Functionally support the discipline team across UK
- Deputising for the UK Head of Engineering
- Executing assigned business objectives
- Actively setting expectations and lead in Discipline Competence
- Providing discipline expertise to the business including Technical Authority responsibility where required
- Managing key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities
- Developing and retaining motivated and competent people
- Undertaking the role of process owner for Wood Operations BMS Global & UK content
- Performance monitoring and reporting to senior management
- Driving innovation and best practice across the Operations UK business
People:
- Setting strategic improvement objectives for discipline
- Managing performance of direct reports
- Driving compliance and adherence of competence procedures of Engineering team
- Managing succession planning and delivery on behalf of the discipline
- Setting and improving standards for the development and retention of motivated and competent people.
- Assisting in the management of recruitment, selection, transfers and promotion of resources to meet Engineering team requirements
- Engaging with Early Careers Network supporting development
- Engaging with Academic institutes developing networks and guidance on expectations
Process Ownership:
- Owning & responsible for BMS content management (Operations Global & UK deployed) - improvement & maintain
- Continuous promotion of Operations / client specific procedures
- Development and delivery of the technical safety standard expectations and technical assurance
- Delivering, setting and owning competence across UK
- Setting development objectives and supporting/developing training plans
- Monitoring compliance with competence standards
- Assisting in incident investigations as required
- Representing discipline across Operations UK business
- Setting performance expectations for discipline
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Driving development of SME's into discipline with strategic view to enhancing current capabilities
- Assisting in providing functional support to projects / contracts as required
- Rolling out and implementation of learning opportunities from across the business
- Acting as Conduit for regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments
- Identifing GTEN AOE expansion opportunities & Identification of candidates for GTEN
General:
- Deputising for operations UK Head of Engineering
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to respective team.
- Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development
- Executing assigned business objectives.
- Managing key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of business activities.
- Managing and directing resources efficiently and effectively.
- Identifying Workshare engagement improvement opportunities
- Driving workshare promotion across the business
Qualifications:
- Mechanical, I&C, Process, Structural, Technical Safety and Electrical as appropriate
- MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
- Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent
Minimum Experience:
- Demonstrable balance of industrial and management experience at relevant level and position.

- Own and be accountable for Discipline
- Strong interpersonal skills (internal & external)
- Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context
- Capable use of discipline software and proactively encourage development
- Professional demeanour
- Able to keep discipline and resolve conflict
- Able to demonstrate team building skills and capable of influencing people at all levels of the organisation
- Enthusiastic, conscientious, and keen to learn/develop
