JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Instrument Designer will be involved in offshore greenfield and brownfield projects FEED, DED of WHP, CPP, FSO, etc.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to respective Project Instrumentation Design Lead for technical responsibilities.
  • Reports administratively to HOD.
Position Summary:

  • Plays a primary role in Instrument Design deliverable development while supporting the Design Lead in accomplishing project objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities or Duties:

  • Review and apply project standards and documents to assure the drawings and documents are compatible and aligned with the overall project objectives. Brings discrepancies to the attention of the Design Lead for resolution.
  • Work closely with peer and subordinate project design staff as well as engineering staff to assure the integrity of project deliverables and documents are maintained, accurate, and consistent.
  • Complete understanding and knowledge of assigned deliverable document organization and production as well as proficiency in the software / tools used to produce them.
    − Process Instrumentation application, installation and hook up.
    − Control System application, installation and hook up including circuit design at the card level and backbone interconnect architecture.
    − Design and production of related fabrication materials and drawings.
    − Associated equipment layout and production of layout drawings.
    − Production of Instrument location plans and details.
    − Control system wiring and loop generation.
    − Working knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegate tasks and provide oversight and mentoring to lower classification design staff that have been assigned to assist you by the Lead Designer.
  • Coordination and cooperation associated with assigned tasks across all project design and engineering disciplines for maximum integration of overall design.
  • Provide field construction support as directed by the project Lead Designer.
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of standard office software with proficiency in the engineering / design software and tools required to produce assigned project deliverables.
  • Complete understanding of the skills and their application required for all lower classifications of designers.
  • Communicate with the Design Lead and discipline staff to assure that changes in scope are identified and carried out in an orderly and efficient manner.
  • Work with Design Lead and Engineering Lead to assure that potential trend / change orders are identified, documented, and submitted to the project management team for consideration / approval.
  • Assist the Lead Designer in:
    − Accurate and timely reporting of progress.
    − Maintaining quality and integrity of design and deliverables.
    − Cross discipline coordination and support.
    − Schedule maintenance to assure deadlines are met
  • Perform PDMS/E3D model
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years' experience in Instrument design work (not including as a drafter)
  • The Instrumentation Senior Designer must have a good general knowledge of each design discipline and previous experience and competence in independently executing assigned design tasks in a role subordinate to Senior Designer.
  • PDMS/E3D model
  • Diploma in Technical course

    Additional Requirements:
  • Potential visits to offshore sites (helicopter, boat)
