Gulf of Mexico Region - Water Compliance Specialist (NPDES Advisor)

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Water Compliance Specialist (NPDES Advisor) to join our client's Gulf of Mexico Region team. In this role, you will be the go-to resource for all things water management, providing leadership and expertise to our operating sites across the region.

What You'll Do:
  • Oversee the Gulf of Mexico water compliance program, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Provide daily support to operating sites regarding offshore EPA NPDES permits and onshore SPCC plans.
  • Represent client as a water subject matter expert with regulators and external industry groups.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by analyzing upcoming water regulations and advocating for client's interests.
  • Develop clear, concise procedures to help our sites understand and implement compliance requirements.
  • Design and deliver training programs on offshore water regulations and treatment systems.
  • Collaborate with field staff to troubleshoot water treatment systems and identify optimal technologies for MODUs and production facilities.
  • Leverage your expertise to inform regulatory applicability reviews and translate regulations into actionable plans.
  • Manage and enhance our regulatory reporting processes, ensuring data quality and timely submissions.
  • Analyze water data, develop performance indicators, and provide insights to management and facilities for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct compliance assessments at client's Gulf of Mexico facilities and labs.
  • Coordinate external audits of contract laboratories, ensuring client's participation and effective review of reports.
  • Be part of client's Incident Management Team, responding to environmental emergencies as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance.
  • Strong understanding of US environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, CERCLA, EPCRA, SPCC, and NPDES.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with regulators and industry groups.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.


Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with data systems like OpenWells, SEMPCheck, mapping software (MS Visio, GIS), MS SharePoint, and Power Apps.
  • Knowledge of water treatment equipment design, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with US EPA laboratory methods for water and wastewater analysis.
  • Experience with incident investigation, HAZID, and ENVID processes.
