JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a mid-level Automation Technical Professional with a strong background in executing typical Automation projects including Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to work with our proposal team to be based in our Houston, Texas office.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual engineer and team member in front of both internal and external customers.

Our automation team works on hands-on projects that span the full spectrum - from small integration projects to Main Automation Contractor programs for large, multi-EPC projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in Automation Engineering projects for the design and implementation of automation systems for oil & gas and process industry projects.
  • Engage in all phases of automation projects, front-end engineering through detailed design, procurement, configuration, implementation, startup, and commissioning in areas such as DCS Configuration, SCADA, HMI, SIS/FGS PLC programming and interfacing, architecture and networking, and specification development.
  • Attend and support site surveys, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT's), Site Acceptance Test (SAT's) and commissioning activities for delivered systems.
  • Review, comment, and provide input on the project schedule and project cost estimate.
  • Support procurement with vendors lists development, requisition development, technical bid tabulations and clarifications, purchase recommendations, monitor progress and maintain communications with vendors as required.
  • Travel expected to customer locations for project implementation (25%).
  • Prepare manhour estimates to support the proposal development for a given opportunity.
  • Compile and submit responses to customer requests such as proposals, request for information, expression of interest and prequalification questionnaires.
  • Take end-to-end ownership and command of proposal development and related support processes on all assigned written proposals, oral presentations, Best and Final Offers, Evaluation Notices, Final Proposal Revisions, etc.
  • Oversee the production of assigned proposals and other customer responses (including prequalification's, expressions of interest, presentations, etc) and ensure that the proposal is compliant and delivered on time. This key role collaborates with capture management, SMEs, and proposal staff to write, edit, review, and produce winning proposals.
  • Ensure customer's requirements are fully met. This involves conducting searches for appropriate materials and writing and editing project summaries, resumes of project personnel, and other supporting sections of the proposal, as necessary. Leverages existing archived proposal information.
  • Schedule and attend proposal meetings with management / estimators / project teams including taking meeting notes and actions where required
  • Expedite proposal stakeholders to obtain outstanding proposal deliverables per the proposal schedule and in order to make the proposal deadline
  • Ensure consistency and branding compliance for all customer responses
  • Prepare post-bid submissions, organize the response to requests for clarification
  • Comply with Wood Code of Business Conduct, Anti Bribery and Corruption undertakings and the Wood mandatory and fundamental procedures
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Electrical, Computers/Systems, or Mechatronics.
  • Must have between 10- and 15-years' Automation experience.
  • Experience with an operating company, systems vendor, or engineering services provider for the onshore or offshore oil & gas and/or energy industry, is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware, network architecture, integration, configuration and programming, industrial protocols, HMI Graphics and databases, and SCADA System configuration and installations.
    • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following platforms - Honeywell Experion/TDC DCS or FSC/SM, DeltaV DCS/SIS, Yokogawa CENTUM DCS/ProSafe, or ABB 800XA. Preference is for Honeywell or DeltaV.
    • Experience with PLC platforms (Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens or Triconex, etc.) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of the principles of relational databases, application interfaces, and Human Machine Interface design and implementation.
  • Strong background and direct experience with multiple systems platforms, operating systems and the interactions between systems, system hardware and architecture.
  • Proficient knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Experience in estimating the manhours to perform a project as defined in an RFP.
  • Highly organized and ability to work on multiple tasks at once.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, clients, and vendors.
