As an Electric Vehicle (EV) Powertrain Test Technician, you will focus on the automotive EV Powertrain test rigs for external clients, including project set-up & de-bugging, mechanical & electrical fitting, and test cell operation.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Intertek's TT laboratory network employs over 1000 staff in 28 labs in USA, Europe and East Asia, with a diverse portfolio of Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification (ATIC) services for Automotive, Aerospace, Marine & Rail customers.

TT-UK has two laboratories, both based in Milton Keynes. Tanners Drive specialises in combustion engine, transmission and complete powertrain testing services.The second laboratory, in Davy Avenue specialises in electric vehicle propulsion systems testing services, covering electric motors, full integrated axle modules and complete vehicles. This is one of the fastest growing business in Intertek, more than doubling in size every two years since 2015.

ABOUT YOU

You will be motivated individual and willing to take on new challenges and learning within the rapidly evolving EV arena:
  • Vocational qualification or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable, but extensive experience will also be considered
  • IT Literacy (Microsoft packages) required to maintain clear and traceable documentation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly energised mind-set with willingness and desire to learn and adapt individually
  • EV powertrain, battery, hybrid systems knowledge
  • Experience of EV powertrain or hybrid system test operations
  • Knowledge of Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) electrical systems

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will join Transportation Technologies division, it has two laboratories, both based in Milton Keynes. Tanners Drive specialises in combustion engine, transmission and complete powertrain testing services.The second laboratory, in Davy Avenue specialises in electric vehicle propulsion systems testing services, covering electric motors, full integrated axle modules and complete vehicles. This is one of the fastest growing business in Intertek, more than doubling in size every two years since 2015.

Required skills and experience
  • Responsible for operation of multiple test rigs outside of normal office hours using defined test methods and scripts
  • Installation and calibration of data acquisition systems
  • Debugging and commissioning of complex electronic systems with high speed serial interfaces (CAN/FLEXRAY etc)
  • Ensure that the data generated is valid and in line with customer requirements
  • Liaise with colleagues, customers and suppliers in a professional manner
  • Ensure all instrumentation used is calibrated in line with company procedures
  • Help to implement and follow safe systems of work

Based at Milton Keynes, Davy Avenue, MK5. Full time, permanent, alternating shift pattern.
