As a High Voltage Electrician specializing in electronic and instrumentation systems, your role revolves around installing, maintaining, and repairing sophisticated electrical and electronic equipment crucial for operational efficiency in various industries. You will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of instrumentation systems, conducting operational checks, diagnosing faults, and performing necessary repairs and maintenance tasks.

This is a FIFO based role working a 2:2 roster

Responsibilities:

Installation and Setup: Execute installation procedures for electronic and instrumentation equipment, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and readiness for operation. Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate new systems into existing infrastructure seamlessly.

Operational Monitoring: Conduct regular checks and monitor the performance of instrumentation systems to detect deviations or anomalies. Utilize diagnostic tools and software to assess electronic and electrical parameters, identifying potential issues or areas for optimization.

Maintenance and Repair: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to uphold the integrity and functionality of electronic and instrumentation equipment. Diagnose performance problems, conduct technical evaluations, and implement corrective actions promptly to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.

Fault Diagnosis: Utilize technical expertise and troubleshooting skills to diagnose electronic and electrical faults effectively. Conduct root cause analysis, fault finding, and diagnostic assessments to pinpoint issues accurately and develop appropriate solutions.

Decommissioning and Disposal: Coordinate the decommissioning and disposal of equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards. Safely dismantle, remove, and dispose of obsolete or redundant instrumentation systems while adhering to established protocols.

Statutory Testing and Inspections: Conduct statutory testing, inspections, and compliance audits to verify the integrity and safety of instrumentation systems. Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, industry codes, and best practices governing electrical installations and equipment operation.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repair logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation. Document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions taken for future reference and regulatory compliance purposes.

Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent; completion of an accredited apprenticeship program in electrical trades with a focus on electronic and instrumentation systems preferred.
  • Valid electrician's license or certification with expertise in high voltage systems and instrumentation electronics.
  • Experience (typically 5+ years) in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic and instrumentation equipment in industrial or commercial settings.
  • Proficient knowledge of electronic principles, instrumentation techniques, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols governing electronic instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex electrical and electronic issues accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to undergo continuous training and professional development to stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
