HVDC product group are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to strengthen the project team

As the HSE Advisor you will be responsible for all matters pertaining to Health, Safety, and the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company, and Client requirements. You will be advising, coaching, and supporting the project team in the safe delivery of a HVDC mega-project. The HSE Advisor will report directly to the Site HSE Manager on their large infrastructure project based in Wilton Teesside.

Please note this role will be a nightshift HSE Advisor (17:00- circa 3 / 4:00am) and has been assessed as Inside IR35 (Umbrella and PAYE only)  

Responsibilities
  • Support the Site HSE Manager and Project HSE Manager in the preparation of Site Health, Safety and Environmental Plans (Construction Phase Plan, Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan, Construction Traffic Management Plan, etc.)
  • Participate, review and assist with the development of Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Ensure leading/lagging indicators are collated and reported to allow for KPI/Performance reports to be generated.
  • Work in cooperation with other CDM duty holders on site; establishing and maintaining close contact with the Client, Client Appointed Contractors, and Subcontractors.
  • Participate in the coordination of site activities to identify potentially hazardous Simultaneous Operations and ensure activities are planned and completed in accordance with the approved Safe System of Work.
  • Deliver HSE briefings via TBT or similar as directed by the Site HSE Manager.
  • Provide guidance and advice on matters relating to HSE to on-site personnel.
  • Support site incident investigations to ensure a root cause and preventative/corrective actions are identified and that all information is suitably collated within the Company Incident Management System – ‘Intelex.’
  • Identify trends by following-up of incident and observation data and propose suitable risk reducing measures.
  • Be visible onsite and complete regular focused inspections whilst engaging in safety conversations with personnel.
  • Be an active and visible member of the HSE team by promoting the Hitachi Energy HSE processes and interacting with site personnel.
  • Be an ambassador for the Hitachi Energy ‘We Care’ behavioral safety program by providing coaching and support.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment towards environmental standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Inform on/verify adherence to site specific environmental protection measures (e.g., waste management, wildlife protection, use/handling of substances hazardous to environment)
  • Assist with D&A testing processes as required.

Skills and Training
  • Recognizable qualification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent) – Level 6 desirable.
  • Previous experience as an HSE Advisor in a project of similar size/complexity or other similar proven capacity.
  • Fluent in English (Verbal and Written).
  • Conversant with ISO 45001(Internal Auditor Training certification in ISO 45001 will be advantageous).
  • Thorough understanding of the CDM Regulations.
  • Formal Incident Investigation Training.
  • Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (A61) desirable.
  • First Aid at Work (3-days).
  • Valid CSCS for Managers and Professionals.
