Senior Structural Engineer

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer with a major Oil and Gas client in Dubai, UAE. The contract duration is yearly renewable.

Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Business/Department: Engineering

Reporting To: Lead Structural Engineer

Job Purpose: Support the Lead Structural Engineer to perform assigned offshore structural engineering analysis and design of topsides and associated substructures to implement engineering projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Job Related Competencies:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering (minimum).
  • Preferably Chartered/Professional Engineer.

Experience Profile:

  • Strong experience within the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Previous experience in offshore platform Greenfield and Brownfield design including both the substructure and topsides.

Competencies/Skills/Others:

  • Demonstrated subject knowledge and competence.
  • Extensive knowledge of Brownfield Engineering Solutions to avoid Hot Work welding in designs.
  • Demonstrate familiarity and knowledge of necessary safety practices, design criteria, and technical standards to ensure the implementation of best practice during the discharge of work-scopes.
  • Competent in the use of Structural Analysis Computer System (SACS) Software and STAAD PRO Software Program.
  • Proficient computer skills; computer literate in Windows-based programs.
  • Knowledgeable in writing and interpreting technical reports.
  • Effective communication with different nationalities with different native languages and religions.

Key Result Areas (Key Accountabilities):

  • Fulfill the role of Senior Structural Engineer in the Projects team for conceptual, front end, and detailed engineering design.
  • Participate in offshore surveys as required.
  • Participate in constructability surveys or reviews.
  • Input and approval into complex heavy lifts being carried out as part of Projects.
  • Participate in relevant safety processes such as Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), and the like.
  • Implement and safely deliver Structural engineering designs in accordance with planning schedules and cost estimates.
  • Identify new or innovative technology that will provide improvements in safety, operations, or reduced costs.
  • Ensure all work is executed in a diligent and safe manner in compliance with the Management System associated working procedures, relevant standards, and national or international standards, as appropriate.
  • Interpret work-scope requirements and demonstrate the ability to recognize potential problems and prospective solutions.
  • Manage third-party service providers where these have been contracted.
  • Effective communication with Onshore and Offshore personnel.
  • Attend project meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the development of the plans, schedules, and estimates for individual work scopes and the integrated plan.
  • Liaise with other disciplines and departments in the execution of the work.
