About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Living Places business unit to work in Lincoln.

Balfour Beatty has been awarded a six year, GBP217 million contract by Lincolnshire County Council for the maintenance of highways assets. There is an option to extend the contract for a further six years.

Balfour Beatty Living places will work with the Council to provide a safe and sustainable local road network through the maintenance of 9,000 kilometres of highways, carriageways and footpaths.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be working on a Highways Maintenance contract with Lincolnshire Council. The project is on NEC4 Option C contract with the management of a high-volume, low-value package environment.

Role Purpose

A Senior Quantity Surveyor is an experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Typically, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. They will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.



What you'll be doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your main accountabilities will be as follows:

  • Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Companys GMCEs, BMS and other governance
  • Orders information and systematically checks data
  • Maximises digital opportunities
  • Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties
  • Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes


Who we're looking for

The following qualifications are essential:

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
  • Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
