We will develop your technical and leadership skills to help you reach your full potential and as your programme progresses you will have increased responsibility; working with experts who will share their knowledge, provide support and give invaluable feedback so you never stop learning. You will be part of a graduate cohort and be assigned Business Improvement and Corporate Social Responsibility Projects that can affect the way we work as a business.


Depending on project requirements, you could be site, office based or both.


The role:


We couldn’t do what we do without good project management. The teams at the centre of every single one of our world-shaping projects – defining the scope, understanding the constraints, organising resources, and generally seeing that all the goals are met. The role is based in Tyne & Wear.


Your day to day responsibilities may include:


•      Understanding what the client or company wants to achieve

•      Agreeing the timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver the project

•      Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of the project

•      Selecting and leading a project team

•      Negotiating with contractors and suppliers for materials and services

•      Directing a multi-disciplinary team and ensuring that each stage of the project is progressing on time, on budget and to the right quality standards

•      Reporting regularly on progress to the client

•      Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders

•      Coordinating market/ customer research

•      Resolving any issues/ delays which may occur

•      Reviewing project procedures

•      Preparing the final report at the end of a project

•      Making sure everything is on time, budget and built to the highest standards

•      Giving clear timescales and objectives to clients and the team

•      Setting out detailed plans for how to achieve each stage of the project

•      Negotiating with contractors and suppliers for materials and services

•      Demonstrating knowledge of all areas of construction

•      Communicating with clients, contractors, colleagues and suppliers on the progress of a project

•      Making sure all paperwork is done for making bids and spending

•      Managing several projects simultaneously with a team of more junior project managers to support you in the delivery


What we’re looking for:


•      A flexible approach to work and able to adapt to change (you will required to travel across the region)

•      A team focus with the ability to communicate and build strong relationships with a wide variety of people at all levels

•      A driven, self-motivated attitude, with the ability to work on your own initiative and influence decision making


What you’ll need:


•      A minimum of a 2:2 BSc (Hons) in Construction Management or Project Management

•      Ideally have experience or a previous placement within Project Management

•    Interest in Highways coupled

•     Eligibility to work and live in the UK

•      A full, clean UK driving licence

We offer a competitive salary that is reviewed annually based on performance.
