The purpose of the internship is to provide the studentwith supervised practice at the work site or in the office in the continuingdaily operations of construction. Interns will assist the Engineer and/or theSuperintendent in the field through assistance, coordination and distributionof information required to construct the project on time, within budget and toquality standard. The intern reports to the Project Engineer or ProjectSuperintendent. Engineering: - Assist the Engineer with obtaining information and approvals for processingshop drawings and submittals. - Disseminate Construction information to appropriate parties. - Assist in the preparation of contract items list. Superintending: - Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of anychanges. - Ensure that subcontractors understand and adhere to the job schedule. - Ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner s safety program, safety codesand regulations.
Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee isfrequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects,tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walkand reach with hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb orbalance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee frequently uses computerkeyboard, regularly travels (as vehicle driver and as passenger on variousmodes of transportation), and occasionally performs work on-site atconstruction work sites. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depthperception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitorfrequently. Working toward a four year degree in Engineering orArchitecture or equivalent is preferred with at least two (2) years ofeducation, and a basic knowledge of building construction experience. Capableof identifying problems and recommending corrective actions. Computer skillsand familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs. Strong ability todemonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicatewell both verbally and in writing.
