Overview

LB Services is looking for a qualified Safety & Occupational Health Manager for a full-time position in the Middle East, in support of LOGCAP V CENTCOM.

All employees must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.



Responsibilities

The Safety & Occupational Health Manager will carry out the following duties and responsibilities in order of priority:

Major duties and responsibilities:        

o   Responsible for the development of a safety and occupational health program which meets the provisions of LOGCAP requirements, industry standards and/or Government specifications.

o   Manage a safety and occupational health program with diverse but recognized hazards in the power, fuel, and aircraft services complying with the Army Corps Safety manual (EM-385-1-1) provisions and effectively communicating multiple safety and occupational health practices and procedures to staff and line personnel.

o   Promote a wide variety of training activities designed to achieve awareness of safety hazards and corresponding preventive procedures in hazardous environment.

o   Ensure that Operations and Maintenance services are performed in a hazard free environment and that the services being met to a good quality standard.

o   Carrying out the following:

o    Inspecting – observing environmental conditions and employee performance patterns to identify electrical and other hazards, detect risks, and determine causal relationships; developing abatement recommendations for safety and occupational health hazards;

o   Investigating – searching for clues, studying variables, questioning witnesses, and retracing sequences to uncover the sources of reported injuries and illnesses;

o    Recording – assuring the validity of data collected, accurate documentation of occurrences and data summaries, and maintenance of program information;

o   Analyzing – examination of available data to identify possible sources of losses experienced, determining critical factors prior to occurrence, and recommendation of alternative adjustments to eliminate or minimize losses from injuries and illnesses;

o   Reporting – defining terminology, writing summaries and preparing summary documentation related to safety and occupational health.

o   Become familiar with the LOGCAP Action Plan (AP) and provide daily, weekly and monthly reports as required by the AP;

o   Frequent travel to job sites is required in the PACOM AOR

o   Other duties as determined.



Qualifications

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow all LBS standard policies and practices.

Essential qualifications:

o   Experience in developing and implementing Safety and occupational health program for prime power O&M Services  

o   Experience in recurring assignments to control or eliminate unsafe physical conditions, equipment and machine hazards, and risks in human performance which may cause injury to persons or damage to property.

o   Practical knowledge of the body of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to safety and occupational health to sufficiently interpret and explain the reasons and purposes for applying measures and procedures, minimizing or abating environmental hazards.

o   Experienced working in international work environments in an expatriate or US military status

o   Proactive nature and strong interpersonal skills in collaborating, communicating and working with (1) Site Managers, (2) other senior managers and staff (to include Home Office management team),  (2) Local and International subcontractors; (3) Army Corps of Engineers military representatives; and (4) local officials as required.
