Lean Manager

Position Description:            Leads and supports at the Business\rUnit or Project Level efforts

\r\r

which are focused on enhancing customer value, nurturing a learning environment, facilitating\rcontinuous improvement processes, and maximizing project team collaboration.

\r\r

\r\r

Reports To:                            General Manager, Operations Manager, or Regional Lean Manager. If

\r\r

assigned to a\rspecific project, reports to the Project Executive or Project Manager.

\r\r

Has a dotted line reporting relationship to\rRegional Lean Manager.

\r\r

 

Essential Duties\r&

\r\r

Responsibilities:                    In the areas assigned:

\r\r

•  Change agent\rimplementing strategies that develop and strengthen a lean enterprise culture\rin alignment with region and company goals\rand priorities

\r\r

•  Works\rdaily with the team(s) in the utilization of the mechanics of Last Planner® System

\r\r

•  Is a key member\rof the Business Unit or Project Management team(s) providing insight, direction\rand strategic alignment to the\rbusiness

\r\r

•  Utilizing the\rLaunch Matrix, works with project teams to support a successful project launch

\r\r

•  Supports\rproject teams in using Lean Roadmap as a planning tool to achieve project and company goals

\r\r

•  Provides\ra consistent presence on assigned projects working with each team in setting up\rVisual Management, the Last Planner® System, 5S, etc.

\r\r

•  Supports development\rand implementation of local project and BU improvement and innovation\rinitiatives through workshops, training, coaching, etc. to teach and practice\rlean principles, methods and tools

\r\r

•  Works with\rRegional Lean Manager and others to share and\rlearn from improvement efforts

\r\r

•  Works with\rRegional Lean Manager to implement standard work for own activities (LPS\rcoaching, Lean Training, etc.)

\r\r

•  Implements\rimprovement and innovation projects based on\rdirection set by business unit/regional leadership

\r\r

•  Facilitates the\restablishment of a lean management system and culture

\r\r

•  Develops\rand conducts standard lean training throughout region as well as supporting\rnational training programs on topics such as: Last Planner® System, lean\rproblem solving & process improvement, lean leadership and culture

\r\r

•  Conducts\rregular project reviews with the Project Team, Operations Manager, and Regional\rLean Manager to review project

\r\r

\r\r                                                  status, challenges, and\ropportunities and to establish measurable\rgoals for                                                                      improvement

\r

\r\r

Qualifications:                       Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of\rfive years’ related experience or

\r\r

an equivalent combination of\reducation, training and/or experience. Proven written and verbal communication\rabilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office\rsuite. Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings,\rspecifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership\rand interpersonal skills. Preferred Last Planner ® System project experience\r(alternatively, completed Advancing Lean training program). Preferred general\rlean knowledge and experience.

\r\r

Preferred experience working\rwith BIM and BIM staff. Curiosity and\rinterest in life-long learning and personal development. Willing to challenge\rstatus quo.

\r\r

Change agent who is able to\rinfluence others and “lead without\rauthority”. Shows initiative (i.e., self-starter), patience, and perseverance.\rHas coaching mindset and skills.

\r\r

Extensive travel is required.

Employee must occasionally lift\rand/or move up to 25lbs.

Work Environment:               While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site

\r\r

at the construction worksite\rwhere the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high\rprecarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and\rrisk of electrical shock. The noise in this work environment is usually\rmoderate to very loud.
