Job description
My client is seeking to recruit an Envelope/Facade Manager to join the project team on one of our Major projects in Berkshire.
Job Purpose:
They are looking for an Envelope Manager, who has new build facade experience, who will be responsible for all brick/block/stone works, stick & semi-unitized curtain walling, listed facade window replacement, roof installation (new and existing restoration) and all the other packages related to Envelope works:
- Stick systems & semi-unitized curtain walling systems - Windows/External doors (new & listed facade restoration) - Mixed material & system roofing / Waterproofing integration - Decorative brickwork / Brick pier construction and interfaces with concrete structures - Scaffolding / access arrangements
Initially, you will come on board to check all drawings and highlight problems that the architect might have missed. You will then be responsible for the sample panels on site.
Reporting into the Production Director, you will be responsible for the following:
- To manage the daily activities of the appointed ground works contractor, in respect Of Health and Safety, Quality and programme.
- To manage the costs associated with the works, and any variations should they arise.
- Lead weekly progress meetings and producing the required timeline of works / action points.
- Subcontractor management to ensure projects are delivered on time and compliant.
- Investigation into latent defects and provide engineered solutions where necessary.
- Procurement of subcontractors for construction works.
- Preparation of purchase orders, works orders and associated documents.
- Control of subcontractors and directly employed labour.
- Liaison with the Client and their agents on post completion matters.
- Review of ongoing works with a view to highlight potential defects.
- Advising production teams on 'lessons learnt'.
- Amendment of O&M's etc after remedial activity.
- To comply with Company Policies and Procedures.
- To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy Statement, Manual and Safe Systems of Work.
Essential and Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
- Decorative Brickwork / Curtain Walling and Roofing Management experience
- Listed Building Restoration
- Excellent communication and man management skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to assist in procurement and design stages prior to appointment of sub-contractors
- High levels of quality standards
- Attention to H&S matters
Desirable:
- Knowledge of UK building regulations
- Mixed Use / Office construction experience
- Liaison with Local Planning Authority & Heritage Officers
- Good financial control skills
