QA Manager in Glasgow, United Kingdom

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a QA Manager working for a large National contractor.

Based in their Glasgow office, the principal purpose of the role shall be to plan, implement and control Quality management systems to ensure company systems of work are compliant with relevant Industry quality standards

Reporting to the Head of QA department, based within the operating region, the ole will include routine inspection of live sites and units whilst under construction to ensure high levels of build quality and identifying defects as early as possible. Accurate reporting of these site visits will be one of the most important requirements of the role together with accurate checking, rechecking and sign-off of works prior to the snagging process.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Ensure consistent quality and compliance standards are applied across all sites in line with the internal standards, current legislation and contract requirements.
  • Lead ongoing control and monitoring of compliance with approved practices and procedures through internal and external audits
  • Monitor both subcontractors and site managers QMS processes and prepare clear and accurate reports following site visits by accurately recording any non-compliant works or processes.
  • Conduct final quality inspections of projects before they are handed over to the client, and put into place any remedial action required prior to handover
  • Ensure company policies, processes and procedures are constantly reviewed, improved and be responsible for ensuring all departments are compliant with legislation, standards and procedures
  • Develop and deliver periodic quality awareness training and development, leading to continuous improvement of standards, practices and procedures through engagement with site based staff including sub-contractors.
  • Assessment and evaluation of quality and environmental nonconformities, including coordination of any corrective and preventative actions

Key requirements will include

  • experience gained in a similar QA role will be beneficial
  • A clear and considerable understanding of quality management best practice for deployment by a large, complex and contract-led organisation.
  • Degree level construction related qualification.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Candidates will need to be robust enough to challenge the construction teams and subcontractors and put a stop to works if high standards arent adhered to
  • Sharp communication skills with the ability to deal with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of ISO9001 and systems of work contained within
  • Quality management/auditor qualification or accreditation
  • Must have a drivers license ensuring ability to undertake frequent travel to sites throughout the regional area with the understanding that overnights will be required on occasion.
