Assistant Casual Worker (Sport Play and Arts) 2 posts available

Are you looking for a summer job? East Riding of Yorkshire Council are looking for talented, friendly and energetic people to work with children, young people and families over a 7 week period delivering a range of sport, play and arts activities across the county. This will include some evening and occasional weekend work.

Sessions will be varied, and many activities will involve working with primary school aged children, together with targeted groups including people who have low self-esteem, additional needs and disengaged young people. Staff are required to support the delivery of activities and adapt sessions to meet the needs of the participants. Activities could include football, family games and bootcamp, dodgeball, beach art and staff are required to facilitate free-play and nerf wars. Staff appointed will become part of the Sport, Play and Arts casual bank of workers.

Candidates must be available for the whole 7 week period.

Candidates must have experience in working with children, young people and be over 18 years of age. You will be able to work well as part of a team, be self-motivated, stay calm under pressure and be a positive role model to participants. You will support the lead staff member in helping to keep succinct records of involvement and support with all health and safety matters. In-house training and development opportunities are available.

A full current driving licence and access to a car are essential. Staff will at times be able to be transported in Council vehicles to session.

Candidates must have a level 1 coaching qualification, a playwork qualification or an equivalent qualification demonstrating transferable skills i.e. youth work, childcare, leisure, health related, etc. It is preferable that candidates have undertaken a safeguarding and emergency first aid qualification in the last 3 years. The post will be subject to DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
