Health Safety and Sustainability Advisor - Fixed Term Contract in Guildford, UK, United Kingdom

Our client are one the UK's leading sustainable housebuilding contractors and they have an opportunity for Health, Safety & Sustainability Advisor to cover their Southern Region on a Fixed Term Contract. The office location of the role is Surrey, as part of this position there is a requirement for reasonable travel to accommodate sites throughout the South of England.

The ideal applicant should preferably have practical experience of acting as a full time Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor in the construction/housing environment.


This role is a Fixed Term Contract to cover Maternity leave and is expected to last around 12 months.


Role & Responsibilities: 

  • Advise sites on Project-specific health, safety and environment issues.
  • Actively identify areas for improvement and contribute to plans aimed at reducing the occurrence of incidents.
  • Ensure that site teams are proactive, up to date and comply with current health, safety and environmental legislation, best practice and Company standards.
  • Undertake monitoring of the health, safety and the environment processes.
  • Assist with the investigation of incidents to establish the root cause and preventative measures.
  • Develop and maintain a continuous improvement ethos in the approach to health, safety and environmental issues and support the Groups Behavioural Safety Program.
  • Ensure site based management are focused on delivering a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Support the Business Unit and Operation Management teams in all aspects of health, safety and the environment performance and management,
  • Assist the Systems Manager with knowledge base management and research.

Skills and Experiences

Prospective applicants will have relevant experience in the construction industry, hold a full driving licence and have relevant health and safety qualifications i.e. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate as a minimum and CSCS card.
